Sandi Ritchie Miller

Splashdown

Sandi Ritchie Miller's recent body of work, her Universe Series, is painted in mixed media such as enamels, inks and various chemicals on Plexiglas.  The origins of the series found partially in Voyager and partially in the universal wonder about space inherent in most of us.  Through this series her work has evolved into an unconscious “liquid painting” or automatic style that encompasses abstract images of space and water.

"Wherever my ‘turtle-back house’ took me, I painted and looked and reflected.  Therefore, my art reflects the heat of Phoenix and the cold of Duluth; the trees of Ohio and the onion domes of Moscow; the flat, wetland of the Fens in England and the back alleys of Tangier; the street people of San Francisco and the dreams of this beach person growing up in Santa Monica.  But mostly my art is an extension of me, my studies in psychology, cloud watching and star searching.”

Ms. Ritchie Miller has done graduate work in art therapy, has a BS in psychology from Arizona State University, an AA in Art, Glendale, AZ, and has taken many non-degree courses in art history and psychology both here in the United States and aboard.  Since 1988 she has shown her works in numerous solo and featured artist exhibitions.
