Ray Grist

Ray Grist

New Yorker, Ray Grist has worn many hats over the course of the last 20 years.  As Chairperson, he initiated the Department of Arts, Malcolm/King Harlem College Extension in New York where his responsibilities were fund raiser, curriculum planner and drawing teacher.  He served as editor of a bi-weekly newsletter; he was the director, writer, narrator and producer and collaborated in the production of numerous video/movie productions; and was the director and editor of numerous books.  Grist has also been the Editor in Chief, Publisher and Art Director of JUMP – A Forum for New World Culture Magazine from which JUMP TV was an outgrowth.   He has produced a virtual book (CD) entitled, “What is a Painting?”  Ray states that “after much exploration and investigation of painting and Art, I come to understand that a painting is a surface with paint on it.  I try to keep it that direct, and work to realize “paintings” that are cohesive and comprehensive.”

Parish Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 6 pm; other hours by appointment.
