Parish Gallery is
pleased to present The Washington DC Area
Chapter of the National Conference of Artists (NCA) celebrating
the organization’s 50th Anniversary. This
exhibition will honor Dr. Margaret Burroughs who is the living founder
of NCA
and will open on Friday, September 18th with an opening
reception
from 6:00 to 8:00 pm running through October 13, 2009.
The National Conference of Artists is the first national
volunteer and professional organization in continued existence, founded
in
March 1959 by Dr. Burroughs. Devoted to
the creation, promotion and education of art by African American Fine
Artists
the membership consists of all levels of fine art – masters, emerging
and
beginning artists whose art has made significant contributions to
national and
international art.
With this exhibition we hope to bring greater exposure to our local fine artists, celebrating the lives, accomplishments, fine art and history of our past and present members, during the period of 1959 to 2009.
The following artists to be included in this exhibition are: Ana Maria Allen, Kwabena Ampofo-Anti, Daniel T. Brooking, Gloria A. Bradley, Dr. Margaret T. Burroughs, Dr. Floyd Coleman, Dr. David C.
