Gary Bellamy

Gary Bellamy uses conventional media such as oils, acrylics, pastels,
watercolors, ink and pencil and also incorporates unconventional media
such as textured paper, wood, wire and other hardware. “The media
I choose are based on the mood of the work and the expressions of my
imagination and creativity. I create works that convey my
personal beliefs on social issues – economic, environmental, and
political. My statement is made when I can convey the mood of the
subject matter in a way that the viewer can actually look at the work
and share the same mood of the subject matter on canvas.”
Mr. Bellamy has participated in several group exhibitions and his works
are included in numerous private collections. His work has been
greatly influenced by major artists such as Romare Bearden, Jacob
Lawrence and Keith Herring, in whose distinctive styles he finds a
great deal of integrity
and innovation. Although he has formally studied at the
university
level, his mixed-media technique is refreshingly original.
Ultimately,
Mr. Bellamy strives to preserve his observations on canvas, while
“propelling fine art to a new level of understanding”.
